USING MATTER TAKE ON CONDITIONS IN LEGALSUITE
Introduction
It is important that Matters are taken on correctly otherwise the corresponding documents and reports generated from these Matters could be incomplete or even incorrect.
To assist the user in completing essential fields, a new feature called “Matter Take On Conditions” was added to the LegalSuite program (in Ver 4.996).
Matter Take On Conditions
One can now add an unlimited number of conditions which are evaluated when the user takes on a Matter or completes the Document Database screen.

Figure 1: Matter Take On Conditions are located under the Setup menu
When creating a Matter Take On Condition, you specify:
· The Condition (e.g. MAT:ClaimAmount = 0 AND DG:Code = ‘MAG’)
· The Message (e.g. ‘Please fill in the Claim Amount’)
· When it must be evaluated (e.g. at Matter take on)
When adding a Condition, these three options are displayed as follows:

In the above example, the program will evaluate the Condition when the user presses the OK button in the Matter Take On screen.

If the Condition is TRUE (i.e. if the Claim Amount is zero and the
Document Set of the Matters is the Magistrates Court) the program will display
the Message and not allow the user to save the Matter.

Conclusion
This can be a very useful feature to maintain data integrity and ensure the users are capturing the Matters correctly.
