Introduction:
LegalSuite has the function to import emails from Microsoft Outlook, Outlook recognizes that a third party software
program (LegalSuite) is trying to access it’s files and thus blocks LegalSuite from importing files to and from Outlook.
When you register Redemption.dll it allows LegalSuite to access data from Microsoft Outlook.
NB: It is important to note that redemption.dll has to be registered on each user’s computer if they wish to import and send
Emails through LegalSuite.
Microsoft Windows Vista
Redemption.dll for Microsoft Windows VISTA can be obtained by clicking on this link ftp://ftp.legalsuite.co.za, or typing the link
into your Internet Explorer address bar.
When asked for a User Name, use the following:
User Name: Redemption
Password: redemption
Double click on redemption_vista.dll and click Save. Windows Explorer will ask where you would like to save the redemption_vista.dll.
Navigate to “C:\Lsuite\Lsw” on the LegalSuite server machine and click Save. When registering redemption_vista.dll, please substitute
“redemption.dll” with “redemption_vista.dll” when following this setup document.
Step 1 Registering redemption.dll on the LegalSuite server machine.
1.1 Locate the redemption.dll as shown below:

Typically the default directory for Redemption.dll is “C:\Lsuite\lsw”.
1.2 Registering Redemption.dll.
Open Command Prompt by clicking Start, and then selecting Run.

Type “cmd” and click OK.

The Command Prompt window will open as shown below:

In order to register Redemption.dll, you need to get Command Prompt to look in the correct directory “C:\Lsuite\lsw”. In order
to do this, simply change the directory in Command Prompt by typing “cd Lsuite\lsw” and pressing Enter.

Now that Command Prompt is in the correct directory, register redemption.dll by simply typing the following:
“regsvr32 redemption.dll” and pressing Enter.
You should receive the following message:

This means that Redemption.dll has been registered. Please proceed to step 3 - Testing
Step 2 Registering the redemption.dll file on the LegalSuite user’s workstation.
2.1 Locate the Redemption.dll from the LegalSuite server machine as shown below:

Typically the default path should be: “L:\lsw”, if this is not correct please substitute the drive letter “L:” for the letter of
the network drive that has been mapped to the “Lsuite” folder within My Computer
2.2 Open Command Prompt by clicking Start, and then selecting Run.

Type “cmd” and click OK.

The Command Prompt window will open as shown below:

In order to register Redemption.dll, you need to get Command Prompt to look in the correct directory “L:\lsw”. In order
to do this, simply change the directory in Command Prompt by typing “L:” and pressing Enter.

Typically the default mapped network drive “L:” points to the Lsuite folder on the server, so we only need to open the LSW
folder, by typing: “cd lsw” and pressing Enter.

Now that Command Prompt is in the correct directory, register redemption.dll by simply typing in the following: “regsvr32 redemption.dll”
and pressing Enter.
You should receive the following message:

This means that Redemption.dll has been registered.
Step 3 Testing
In order to test the registering of the Redemption.dll, open the Matters Window in LegalSuite and click on Document Log.

The following screen will open.

Click on the Import Emails Button.

The following page will open, and will begin importing the emails from your Outlook into LegalSuite - this may take a few minutes
depending on how many emails you have in Outlook.

Once all the emails have been imported, you can select the email you wish to attach to the matter by highlighting it, and clicking
on Import.

The following notification will open, Click on OK.

Close the Email Messages window by clicking on Close.

You will see that the email we imported has now been attached to the matter in the document log.

This means that the registering of Redemption.dll has been successful and is working correctly.
Step 4 Troubleshooting
4.1 Cannot find the Redemption.dll on the LegalSuite server machine.
4.2 Cannot register Redemption.dll on the LegalSuite server machine.
4.3 Cannot register Redemption.dll on the local machine.
4.1 Cannot find the Redemption.dll on the LegalSuite server machine.
If you cannot find Redemption.dll in the default path – “C:\Lsuite\lsw”
· Do a Live Update. Redemption.dll will be downloaded into the LSW folder. If you still cannot find Redemption.dll please
· contact technical support on 0861 711150.
4.2 Cannot register Redemption.dll on the LegalSuite server machine.
· Check that the command in Command Prompt is correct and is being run from the correct path. ie: Path: “C:\Lsuite\lsw”
Command: “regsvr32 redemption.dll”
· If Command Prompt cannot run Redemption.dll and shows the following error:

This means that Redemption.dll is not in the specified folder. Refer to 4.1
4.3 Cannot register Redemption.dll on the Workstation.
· Check that the path is correct. ie: “L:\lsw”
Run the command: “regsvr32 redemption.dll”
If you receive the error message below

This means that Redemption.dll is not in the specified folder. To resolve this you need to locate the Redemption.dll on the
server and navigate to that path within Command Prompt.
